Old Jerusalem – Two Birds Blessing

Seriously, why isn’t this dude known out there? I was kinda surprised when I saw this released by a scene group. Every day we see tons of boring singer-songwriters having lots of praise and Old J doesn’t stand behind them. (nothing personal, Sufjan. You’ve got a couple of nice songs. Really.) Well, I’ve got his other albums if anyone’s interested.

Tracklist:
———-
01. Arduinna And The Science Boy 5:02
02. The Gene Genie 3:32
03. Seventh Day, Dawn 6:11
04. Ominous Prayer 5:41
05. Pale Mirror Of You 4:40
06. Restless Choose Leaving 5:16
07. The News Bit 5:12
08. The Soviet Face 5:39
09. The Guilt Albatross 5:11
10. Two Birds Blessing 3:53
11. You, You & Me, Me 4:53

Total 55:10

Release Notes:

After the critically acclaimed records ‘April’ (2003), ‘Twice The Humbling Sun’ (2005) and ‘The Temple Bell’ (2007), portuguese folk songwriter Old Jerusalem is back with ‘Two Birds Blessing’. An astonishing album comprising 11 tracks about hope and love.
Old Jerusalem is a firm believer that every album you pick up should be a universally acessible experience. Solitude, santuary and silence spawn an exorcism of sorts. ‘Two Birds Blessing’ is a heartbreaking and heartwarming album that ventures deeper than the its simple history could predict.
Recommended if you like: Devendra Banhart, Bill Callahan, Will Oldham, Damien Jurado and Bon Iver.

Also, people who keep sending us material to post and review: I’m really sorry, but I haven’t been around lately and can’t keep up with your submissions. I don’t even have time to listen to them.. maybe I’ll post something when I’m less busy. Sorry.

There’s no question that at least ninety percent of the music released is mediocre and derivative at best, and just entirely unlistenable at worst.

Still, it’s worth sifting through the garbage to find an artist like this. Brilliant work here!

January were/are pretty cool. I only have “I Heard Myself in You”, do you have any other album? I like rapidshare links.

@Dan, although he isn’t “big”, he’s well known in the Portuguese scene. I hope he finally gets the exposure he deserves after 4 great albums – 1408 downloads in 5 days.. almost as much as Mark Kozelek’s live album!

Sorry celtic, I only have this album too, and it’s not with me now, I left it on Brazil when I came to Portugal…why I’m saying all this things? Well, this week Old Jerusalem played in Lisbon and I missed the show..

Hello Celtic,

Thanks for the links but the one for “Twice the Humbling Sun (2005)” is not working any more.

Could you please upload it again?
